Who Are We?

Lyme Parks Webpage on the National Trusts Website The Bowmen of Lyme was founded in 1980 and we are privileged to be able to shoot within the idyllic location of Lyme Park.

Lyme Park is a National Trust property that was famously used as the filming location of the BBC's adaptation of Jane Austins novel 'Pride and Prejudice'. It has also been featured in the Timeslides episode of Red Dwarf and The Antiques Roadshow.

Lyme Hall has its own Victorian gardens that span 17 acres of land and surrounding the hall and gardens is almost 1400 acres of medieval deer park complete with herds of both Red and Fallow Deer.

Lyme Park is situated within the village of Disley off the main A6 between Buxton and Manchester. It is a very popular Local attraction throughout the year and is a great location for a picnic!

Due to our good relationship with the park, we are lucky enough to be able to shoot 3 different archery disciplines on a regular basis. These are Target, Clout and Field Archery.

We are a relatively small club with currently 32 active members of all different ages. We have a very relaxed approach to our sport and although we try not to take ourselves too seriously, this does not mean that we are not good Archers!

During the year we hold a number of competitions and these include everything from the usual Club Championships to a monthly handicap competition and postal league competitions.

Aside from the shooting activities at the club, we hold two major social events during the year. The first of these is our summer BBQ and this is held within our club grounds within the park. The second event is the traditional Christmas Meal. Both these events are very family friendly and we actively encourage members to bring their husbands/wives/partners and children along.

For more information on forthcoming events, please have a look on our Events page.
