Field Archery at the Bowmen Of Lyme.

Field Shooting at the Bowmen Of LymeThere are many different forms of archery, not just the target archery that you see at the Olympics. At the Bowmen of Lyme, we are lucky enough to be able to shoot 3 different disciplines, all within our club grounds.

Field archery is a much more traditional form of archery and due to its very nature, some clubs specialise in this form alone.  These clubs tend to be affiliated to the NFAS or National Field Archery Society.

Field Shooting involves shooting at different targets at unknown distances. These targets are normally placed within a woodland and can involve shooting across ponds/streams to down steep hills.

There are a number of different rounds that can be shot, some use standard targets and target faces, others use pictures of animals on standard targets (this is what we do) and some even use 3D targets of anything from life size boar, deer etc but also some clubs have 3D dinosaurs!

Field Shooting at the Bowmen Of LymeWe have a small woodland area within our compound that gives our members a 'taster' into field archery but is should not be considered a full field course.

Our annual field championships are held before our summer BBQ. This allows our members to relax after a long days shooting with a sausage or two in the relaxing club grounds.

Field archery can be practiced on any day as it does not interfere with any of the other disciplines on offer.
